Wednesday - Monday 01/4/12-01/09/12

Will I finally got Internet access at the condo so I will be able to start my blog.

On Wednesday, 01/04, we left early in the morning (6:45am) and it was COLD - 12 degrees.
It was sunny with a afternoon warm up to 34 degrees as we arrived in Columbus, Ohio. We drove
out I-70 for 543 miles. There was very little snow on the side of the roads. We stayed at Americas Best Value Inn which charged us $10 for Benny and had dinner at the Outback Steak house.

On Thursday, 01/05, we left the hotel at 8:30am. Our target was Columbie, Missouri. We gained an
hour travel time (Central time zone) as we crossed from Indiana to Illinois. We finished our day at the Quality Inn in Columbie. The hotel charged us $15 for Benny. Thursday we travelled 525 miles and when we arrived it was 54 degrees. We had dinner at Bandana Bar BQ.

On Friday, 01/06, we left by 8am for Hays Kansas. It was another beautiful day with temps in
the 60's. No snow to be seen at all. Total mileage for the day was 400 miles. We arrived at the
Days Inn. They charged us $8 for Benny. We had dinner at the Whiskey Creek Bar.

On Saturday, 01/07, we left around 8:30am with 400 miles to go. So far we have travelled thru NJ,
Penn, W.Va (yes for 15 miles), Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and now Colorado. Again the temps are in the 50s. But as we arrived in Denver, it became overcast and colder. As we started up
the mountains, it started to SNOW and the temps fell into the 20s. It was SLOW travelling up I70
but we arrived safely in Dillon Colorado around 2pm. We later learned that I70 was closed for 4 1/2
hours starting at 3pm because of the weather conditions and MANY accidents on the mountain roads.

On Sunday, 01/08, after going to church, we relaxed watching the Giants and Denver win their
football games. We also went shopping to get our food supplies. The day was sunny with temps
in the low 30s.

Today, Monday 01/09, we went to Keystone skiing. It was sunny and COLD (temps between
5 and 15 degrees). Everyone was saying that today the skiing was the best so far of the season. Many
of the resorts have a very small snow cover. The snowfall on Saturday, which was about 6 inches)
was the most snow in over a month. Everyone is praying to the SNOW GODS. We ended the day
going to our favorite bar - The Dam Brewery.

Now that I have Internet service, I should be able to update my blog everyday. Right now I am
watching the LSU/Alabama game.
