Sunday 02/13/12

It was a good start for the Kite-Skiing finals Sunday morning. It was windy and clear until 12 noon. However, around 12:30, a storm came across the lake with blinding snow. The finals were slated to start at 1pm. After the storm came thru, the wind totally STOPPED and at 2pm, the finals were cancelled. We were on the lake walking to the other side when the storm came up. We just waited it out hoping that the wind would pick up again.

We took Benny with us and I think he really enjoyed the walk ??????????. Since the finals were cancelled, the Summit Water Rescue put on a demo for the people. They first carved 4 large blocks of ice out of the lake. The pieces were about 18 inches thick. Then 2 of them, jumped into the freezing water with proper equipment on and demonstrated how they would rescue someone. It was really cool.

Sunday night's forecast was for some snow. Lets hope so.
